About Us
OvertimeCal was built with a simple, singular mission: to help hourly workers, freelancers, and professionals quickly, accurately, and easily calculate their true overtime earnings without the guesswork.
The Problem We're Solving
Navigating labor laws and understanding your paycheck shouldn't require a degree in accounting or employment law. Unfortunately, calculating overtime isn't always as simple as multiplying your rate by 1.5. Depending on where you live, such as California, you might be entitled to double-time for hours worked beyond 12 in a day. You also have to factor in shift differentials, bonuses, and complex federal regulations like the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
We noticed that most overtime calculators online were either too simplistic, failing to account for state-specific laws, or too complicated, requiring users to fill out confusing, spreadsheet-like interfaces. We wanted to fix that.
What We Offer
OvertimeCal provides a suite of high-fidelity, highly accurate calculators designed to address real-world payroll scenarios:
- Federal & State Accuracy: We bake in complex logic for different jurisdictions, ensuring that whether you're calculating standard time-and-a-half or California's strict daily overtime thresholds, the math is done right.
- Tax Estimates: Understanding gross pay is one thing; knowing your take-home pay is another. We've integrated basic tax estimation logic so you can see how extra hours impact your overall tax burden.
- Flexible Pay Periods: Whether you're paid hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, our tools adapt to your specific payment structure.
- Privacy First: Our calculators run locally in your browser. We don't want or need your personal financial data.
Our Mission & Values
We believe in financial transparency and worker empowerment. Wage theft—whether intentional or resulting from honest payroll errors—costs workers billions of dollars every year. By providing free, accessible, and intuitive tools, we aim to give workers the knowledge they need to verify their paychecks, advocate for fair compensation, and plan their financial futures.
Who We Are
